Translation & Proofreading

Guidelines & Process

Translation and Proofreading Services

English ↔ Simplified/Traditional Chinese

Document Format

  • Provide documents in Word (.docx) or PDF (.pdf) format. If using Google Docs, Canva, or PowerPoint (.ppt), share with editing access. For other formats, reach out to determine the best way to proceed.

Requesting a Quote & Turnaround Time

  • Email 📧 lincollaborative@gmail.com with the document included to receive an exact quote and estimated turnaround time.

  • Once the quote is provided, the requester should approve before I begin work.

Turnaround Time

  • < 1,000 words: Typically within 24 hours, unless scheduling constraints apply.

  • 1,000 – 2,000 words: Typically within 48 hours, unless scheduling constraints apply.

  • > 2,000 words: Estimated turnaround provided upon request, depending on document complexity and workload.

    Terminology Consistency

  • If the document contains specific terms, names, or program titles with an existing translation (e.g., organization names like Asian Law Caucus 亚洲法律联会), please provide them when requesting a quote to ensure consistency.

  • Otherwise, translations may differ from previous materials, as words and terms can have multiple correct translations.

Delivery & Revisions

  • Completed work will be sent via email in the same format as received (Word/PDF).

  • One round of minor revisions is included if clarifications are needed.

Additional Information

I provide written translation and proofreading services with a commitment to accuracy, clarity, and natural readability while preserving the original meaning, tone, and cultural nuances.

Regarding Translation

  • Written translation only – I do not provide interpretation services. For interpretation needs, please contact my former colleague Flora Kuang at Flora Language Service florainterpretation@gmail.com, who has long supported Chinese language access for community members and grassroots organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area.

  • I adapt translations based on the target audience, whether plain language, legal terminology, or content tailored for immigrant and limited English proficiency (LEP) readers.

  • If your document contains specific terms, names, or program titles with existing translations, please provide them when requesting a quote to ensure consistency.

Regarding Proofreading

  • Polish only – Words or phrases will only be adjusted if they are incorrect, unclear, or inconsistent with the official name of an organization, program, or term; otherwise, the original text remains unchanged. My focus is on ensuring consistency in terminology, along with minor corrections in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and natural flow.

Regardless of document length or complexity, I am committed to delivering as quickly as possible while maintaining the highest quality.
